ORLANDO, Fla. - 10/24/2006
Mark Templeton, president and chief executive officer for Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, outlined Citrix's vision for a world where anyone can work from anywhere - an imperative for businesses around the globe as the requirements for work are changing radically with the dynamic forces of globalization, disruption, consolidation, regulation and the new generation of workers entering the workforce called echo boomers - who come with very different expectations. Templeton made his remarks to 3,150 attendees in Orlando, Fla. during Citrix's ninth annual business and technology conference, Citrix iForumT Global 06.

Templeton discussed how the world is changing and how the pace of change is accelerating. People want the freedom to work from anywhere and businesses face increasing pressure to tap talent where it lives while ensuring the safety of its workforce and the security of its intellectual property. Templeton said that there are five major forces fueling the dynamic world in which we live:
Globalization - work is shifting to where the talent lives
Disruption - people risk being displaced by disasters of all kinds
Consolidation - industries and companies are merging at record pace
Regulation - government agencies are tightening controls on information
Echo Generation - the upcoming workforce/consumer wants total control of everything
"The problem is that businesses today lack the flexibility and agility to respond to - let alone leverage - business opportunities for growth that a dynamic world affords," said Templeton. "IT systems are too static, too complex and are costing too much to maintain. Applications and enterprise resources are cemented to these static systems, making it impossible for businesses to be flexible. Organizations need to re-think how they deliver applications. They need to stop hard-coding application access because of the ever-increasing variety of user access scenarios. Citrix application delivery infrastructure allows businesses to be much more flexible by loosely coupling applications, networks and devices so that they can deliver applications with the best performance, security and cost."

Citrix's application delivery infrastructure solutions power the network between end users who need to access applications and IT administrators who control application delivery. Both ends of the network have limitless possibilities in terms of what must be delivered to whom. End users are in multiple locations, use different devices, have different access privileges and use secured and unsecured networks for access. IT administrations deliver a wide range of applications to end users, including Web applications, client/server applications, desktop applications as well as voice and video applications. As a result, businesses need a way for the network to optimize the delivery of applications to any end point under every access scenario. They need a dynamic delivery network that intelligently determines the optimal delivery of an application for the best performance, the highest security and the lowest cost.
